Our Earthquake Hazard and Risk Management application is a comprehensive urban resilience solution integrated with digital twin technology, designed to make our cities more resilient to earthquakes and optimize disaster management. The application provides risk-based loss analyses covering the four fundamental phases of disaster management (prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery).
Hazard Analyses include the analysis of historical earthquakes generated by fault lines and their magnitudes, as well as the generation of hazard maps based on PGA (Peak Ground Acceleration), PGV (Peak Ground Velocity), and spectral acceleration values through the modeling of Next Generation Attenuation (NGA) relationships appropriate for ground classes.
Structural Risk Analyses include building-level earthquake damage estimations, performed by applying vulnerability functions according to building type, number of floors, and year of construction; probabilities of light, moderate, severe damage, and collapse are determined. Comparative damage analyses are provided for strengthened and non-strengthened buildings, along with strengthening cost calculations in accordance with the Turkish Earthquake Code (TDY) and benefit/cost analyses.
Infrastructure and Transportation Analyses include the calculation of post-earthquake road closure risk through intersection analysis of building debris areas with road widths; damage probabilities of structures such as bridges, viaducts, overpasses, and underpasses are assessed. Damage estimations for natural gas, water, and wastewater pipelines are performed based on pipe material, diameter, and joint type.
Response Planning Analyses include capacity and accessibility analyses of assembly and temporary shelter areas, identification of emergency transportation routes, planning of evacuation routes, and accessibility assessments of logistics centers. In addition, the post-earthquake condition of base stations and communication infrastructure is analyzed, and optimal locations for mobile base stations are recommended.
Economic Loss Analyses include post-earthquake economic loss estimations based on building value data, with repair and reconstruction costs calculated by taking into account the unit prices of the Chamber of Civil Engineers.
Operating fully integrated with Disaster Management Centers (AKOM) through a big data architecture, the application combines a wide range of datasets provided by public institutions on a single platform, enabling decision-makers to take rapid and data-driven action. All these analyses are visualized on a 3D digital twin system, enabling effective urban planning, prioritization of urban transformation, and preparation of emergency response plans.
