C2IMPRESS IS JOINTLY FUNDED BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION AND UK RESEARCH AND INNOVATION. THE CONSORTIUM INCLUDES 16 INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS FROM 7 COUNTRIES. THE START MEETING OF THE PROJECT WAS HELD IN ISTANBUL ON 24-25 OCTOBER 2022, HOSTED BY SAMPAŞ HOLDING.
(C2IMPRESS- Co-Creative Improved Understanding and Awareness of Multi-Hazard Risks for Disaster Resilient Society)
The European Commission provided a grant of 5.09 million Euros within the framework of Horizon Europe (2021-2027) to the Developing Common Understanding and Awareness in the Context of a Resilient Society Against Multiple Hazard and Disaster Risks (C2IMPRESS) project.
The project is CL3- The call 2021-DRS-01-01: Raising Public Awareness Against Disaster in Multi-Hazard Risk Areas is funded as a Research and Innovation project. The UK partners in the consortium receive grants worth approximately 800,000 Euros from UK Research and Innovation (UKDI). 16 partners will work together in the project, which aims to increase public awareness and support with innovative technologies against the increasing multiple hazards and risk situations triggered by climate change and other factors. The project started with a hybrid meeting hosted by Sampaş Holding in Istanbul on 24-25 October 2022.
At the meeting, the partners came together for the first time and made presentations explaining their goals and actions within the scope of the project. C2IMPRESS 1 October 2022 It started with the first meeting of 16 partners from 7 countries in .
For the kick-off meeting of the 3-year project, which will end in 2025, the partners came together on 24-25 October 2022, hosted by Sampaş Holding in Istanbul, Turkey. The consortium has an international structure consisting of 16 institutions and organizations from 7 countries. SAMPAŞ Holding and SAMPAŞ Smart Cities are the coordinators of the project. The consortium of the project is SHL - SAMPAŞ Holding (Turkey), SAM - SAMPAŞ Smart Cities (Turkey), ARTELIA (France); LNEC - National Civil Engineering Laboratory (Portugal), MET - Synergistic Manifolds (Portugal), DEMOKRITOS NCRSD - National Scientific Research Center (Greece), UIB - University of the Balearic Islands (Spain), IU - Istanbul University (Turkey), EGL - Egaleo Municipality (Greece), ORDU - Ordu Metropolitan Municipality (Turkey), APA - Porto Port Authority (Portugal), GOIB - Balearic Islands Municipality (Spain), RMITE - Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (Spain), UGA - Grenoble Alpes University (France), RMIT - Royal Melbourne University of Technology (Australia), UCAM - University of Cambridge (England), TVS - Technovative Solutions Ltd. (England) partners.
C2IMPRESS will provide solutions for a society that is resilient against multi-hazard and disaster risks.
C2IMPRESS Project, with its new perspective focused on "space and people", is a multi-hazard and will provide an assessment framework within the scope of comprehensive resilience and resilience against disaster risk. Within the scope of the project, a risk platform will be created against multiple hazards. An innovative agent-based model using a human-centered approach, an interdisciplinary and integrated risk assessment framework, and a decision support platform with microservices will be created. C2IMPRESS adopts an innovative, multi-actor and creation and design approach based on the principle of participation.
C2IMPRESS's innovative solution proposals will be tested in 4 case areas.
Within the scope of the C2IMPRESS project, pilot areas have been determined from 4 different countries to implement innovative solutions developed against disasters triggered by climate change. Since pilot areas have different characteristics and climates, they diversify the applications within the scope of the project. While Ordu (Turkey), located in the Black Sea Region, focuses on landslides and floods, flood risks; The Egaleo (Greece) pilot study focuses on predicting heat waves, fires, floods and earthquakes. The Centro Region (Portugal) pilot represents coastal and river flooding, ship maneuvers, and the impact of forest fires on the water cycle. The fourth pilot, the Balearic Islands (Spain), represents the Mediterranean archipelago prone to floods and forest fires. In summary;
C2IMPRESS aims to produce solutions against disasters caused by climate changes. Instead of the current disaster-oriented solution frameworks, people-oriented, locally specific solutions designed with a multi-actor and participation approach will be produced to meet the needs of each region; Public awareness of disasters caused by extreme weather changes as well as floods and forest fires due to climate change will be increased.
